For 2011 we are offering several activities over Saturday and Sunday so everyone will find something to enjoy.
Saturday:
This year there will be Youth Races, a Vendor area, Swap Meet, Trail Build clinic, Trail Rides, and of course Oakley’s Gore at Night which includes a night crit, wheelie contest and other activities.
Youth Race – A race for the younger riders! Kids aged 15 and under can challenge themselves in a sprint race and short XC race with lots of potential for pictures.
Vendor Area – We have contacted some of the biggest names in the maritimes in the bike industry to come and let them show you what they have to offer.
Swap Meet – Have old parts or even complete bikes you want to get rid of? Need a new to you part to complete your commuter bike? Here’s your chance to bring your bike related wares and sell, trade or even give them away.
NSMTBTA Trail Building Clinic – We will have a representative from the Nova Scotia Mountain Bike Trail Association present to show the basics of trail building. No need to bring a lot of tools, just yourself and learn how to build and maintain your local trails!
AVMBA Trail Rides – Think the course are the only trails at Gore….not so. There are a plethora of trails built by many that need to be explored. Here’s your chance to play on some of the best trails to be had in Nova Scotia. Along the way the ride leaders will show you tricks and tips to enhance your riding skills.
Oakley Gore At Night – What would Gorefest be without Oakley and their awesome night events including a wheelie contest, bike toss, night crit and bonfire! Attendance is mandatory!
Sunday:
8 Hour Endurance Race – The event we are all here for. By yourself or in teams in a relay style event, complete as many laps as you can in 8 hours.
4 Hour Endurance Race – Not feeling the 8 hour challenge, then do this respectable 4 hour version. As many laps as you can complete in 4 hours.
Awards and Draw Prizes - We have a ton of great prizes from Louis Garneau, Norco, Devinci, and many other folks for everyone. This is a festival and we want everyone to go away with something to remember the weekend.
